My nethers got drafty from watching just how icy Claire Foy portrays Queen Elizabeth II on this season on The Crown since Prince Philip (played by Matt Smith) may or may not have been stepping out. Apparently, Claire has had marital problems of her own, because a new report says she has separated from her husband, and they’ve been that way for a while.
People says Claire and her husband of four years, Stephen Campbell Moore, separated. It’s unclear if the look those Brits are giving each other in the photo above is “Keep calm and carry on to the divorce attorney.” They announced in a joint statement:
“We can confirm that we have separated and have been for some time. We do however continue as great friends with the utmost respect for one another. We ask for our privacy during this time.”
Claire and Stephen have a two-year-old daughter. Another People story says the two actors met on a job and she had said they had a great way of co-parenting by alternating who takes a gig.
Claire just won a SAG for her performance in The Crown, but her job is done, she’s passed the Corgis off to someone else, and she’s moved on to new projects. Namely, she’s playing Lisbeth Sander in The Girl In The Spider’s Web, and she’ll play Neil Armstrong’s wife opposite Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong in First Man. Cue a Ryan “Hey girl” gif saying, “Hey, girl…you’re not gonna get over that Z-List actor until you get under these A-List abs.” Pass the smelling salts! I just got hot and bothered from simply typing that.
